Motocross / motor cycling

Motocross involves off road riding or a motor bike. Usually held on enclosed dirt tracks. Competitors wear a helmet and safety gear. First person across the line wins.

Brief description of competition: We run around 12 race meetings a year. Moto x and flat track. This is a fun and safe place to go and race your moto bike.

Season dates: We start our season off in March and race through to November. You can start off any time in the year.

Where is training held? You can go and practice at the track at Catalina rd any time as long as you are a member of the club and you have a parent with you.

Public transport near training:
No as they have to take their own bike.

What do they need to bring to training? If they go to the track to practice they should wear all the safety gear. Have a parent with them and some water.

Where are competitions held?
Catalina rd Palmerston
Competition days and times:
Most Saturday nights from 2.30pm through to around 10pm

Cost per season:
$80.00 family membership
$85.00 - $230.00 ma licence
$20.00 - $30 nomination fee

Uniform requirements: No uniform but you must have all the safety gear. Helmet, goggles, long sleeved shirt, racing pants, boots, gloves and body armour

Is there an opportunity to compete in a NT title? If so, what are the dates and where will it be held? NT titles are held in Alice springs this year on the 9-10 July next year they will be held back in Darwin at our Palmerston track. They are usually in July every year.

What do they need to bring to competitions? Bike, safety gear and you must have a ma licence

Would you appreciate parent volunteers? We are always looking for volunteers. If you would like to help on a flag at a race meeting you must be over 18 years of age.

Brief description of competition: Bikes are classed in relation to engine size. Where numbers are large enough riders are placed in Divisions reflecting their riding skill

Ilparpa Motocross Track, Butler Road, Ilparpa.

Competition days and times: Competition times vary. Generally riders are required to be at the track at 7:30 am and racing finishes at approx. 3:30pm

Cost per season:
Membership: $40 single, $60 family.
Racing Licence: $85 Nipper, $225 Junior, $235 Senior.
Each Race day incurs a fee: $20 Junior, $30 Senior.

Uniform requirements: Uniform not required. Protective Clothing: Helmet, goggles, racing clothes, racing boots, kneepads, elbow pads, Roost protector, gloves.

Uniform Costs: Prices vary according to Brand chosen. Prices available from, Desert Edge Motorcycles, Race Motorcycles, or Redline Motorcycles

Is there an opportunity to compete in a NT title? If so, what are the dates and where will it be held? N.T. Titles are held in either Alice Springs or Darwin on or about the 2nd weekend in July. This year it will be in Alice Springs on the 9th and 10th July.

 What do they need to bring to competitions? Children under 16 years must be accompanied by an adult.

Would you appreciate parent volunteers? The club runs on the assistance of volunteers. Areas required to get the club up and running include: track preparation, running the canteen, race officials including flag marshals, scorers.
