Horse Riding

There are a number of competitions in horse riding, these include show jumping, horse showing and cross country riding. Competitors must be able to demonstrate that they can handle their horse correctly.

Brief description of competition: Riders learn how to control a horse for Pleasure riding, Dressage, Mounted Games, Jumping, horse health and well being and basic Natural Horsemanship

Season dates: Eleven months of the year

Training is held at the Cunnington Park Complex, Catalina Road Marlows Lagoon

Training days and times:
Students must ring the centre and discuss session times with the centre manager

Nil public transport to the centre

What do they need to bring to training?
Water bottles and appropriate clothing for horse riding

Where are competitions held? State Competitions are held at the Darwin Show. National Competition - TBA

Competition days and times: As Applicable

Cost per season:
Joining fee of $75.00 with each 1-hour session costing $12.00.
Able body riders may also train with a cost of $35.00 per session, plus joining fee

Uniform requirements: Students are required to wear horse riding trousers or jeans, short sleeve shirt and must have appropriate footwear.

Uniform Costs: RDA-North shirts are available and price is on application.

 Is there an opportunity to compete in a NT title? If so, what are the dates and where will it be held? There are State and National Championships for riders with disabilities, dates to be advised

What do they need to bring to competitions? Detailed information will be given to those riders whom participate in all RDA North competitions

Public transport near competition: Detailed information will be given to those riders whom participate in all RDA North competitions

Would you appreciate parent volunteers? Volunteers are always welcome. All volunteers must undergo induction training when working with horses and riders. Volunteers are also welcome for fundraising activities throughout the year.
