Gymnastics

A sport involving tumbling, dancing, strength, balance and flexibility. There are a variety of apparatus that gymnast compete on including the beam, uneven bars, floor, hoop, ribbon, trampolining and pommel horse.

Gymnasts are required to perform certain moves correctly in order to gain a score.

Kinder Gym Introduces children to dominant movement patterns through fun and challenging activities
General Gym provides a sound grounding in basic movement patterns required for gymnastics or any other physical activity.
WAG & MAG provides an opportunity for active children to burn energy and develop self discipline. A competitive stream of gymnastics incorporating vault, floor, beam, high bar, pommel, and rings.

Season dates: School terms School holiday activities

Where is training held? Marrara Sports Complex - McMillans Drive Marrara. Our venue is fully equipped with each of the Men's and Women's apparatus. Heavily padded pits are provided to allow gymnasts to learn advanced aerial skills and dismounts from apparatus without risk of injury. In most instances there are multiple apparatus in each category and there are many lead up devices that facilitate the progressive development of skills.

What do they need to bring to training? Water bottle, suitable clothing –leotard or crop top and bike pants

Public transport near training: Bus stop on McMillans road, then a short walk to the club.

Where are competitions held? Competitions are held at all gymnastic venues in Darwin.

Where is training held? Sessions are held in the gymnasium at the Charles Darwin University on Saturday mornings and Kindergym is held at the YMCA on Tuesday mornings.

What do they need to bring to training? You will need to bring a water bottle and wear comfortable clothing eg shorts and t-shirt or leotard

Cost per season:
$50 registration per year for Kindergym and $7.00 per session. 
$70 registration for the other classes and $7.00 per class except for intermediates which is $13.00

Where is training held? PCYC Gymnastic venue – Vanderlin Drive Berrimah. The venue provides continuous air flow while maintaining protection from rain in the wet season. Fans are provided throughout with an excellent canteen facility. PCYC provides a sprung gymnastics floor and regularly maintained apparatus for your child’s safety.

Public transport near training? Buses stops directly in front of the PCYC building. PCYC Gymnastic classes start at 3.30 and are time tabled for Children to come straight from school. Often children are able to catch a school bus with no extra cost. 3.30 start times also allow some flexibility for working parents.
