Guides provide a non-formal education program that is a dynamic, flexible and values-based training in life skills, decision-making and leadership. It is run by trained volunteer Leaders commited to helping girls and young women grow into confident, self-respecting, responsible community members.

Age Groupings and name: Guides - girls aged 5-18 years OP's - Women aged 18-30 years

Brief description:
Activities are girl-directed based on the Australian Guide Program.
Guides have fun! They challenge themselves by trying a range of activities appropriate to their age and abilities. Together with their friends they choose and plan what to do with the guidance of a trained adult volunteer.
Guides gain personal and communication skills, teamwork, decision making and leadership skills and a respect for the environment.
Guides is a non-competitive environment.

Season dates: Unit meetings are held during the school terms

Where is training held? Guide Units are held in Darwin, Palmerston, Katherine, Tennant Creek and Alice Springs. There is also a Lone Guide Unit which caters for girls who are remote or unable to attend a Guide Unit.

Training days and times: Days and times vary. Information is available from the Guide Office during business hours.

What do they need to bring to training? Covered in shoes must be worn and if the activity is being held during the day a hat will be needed.

Public transport near training? In most cases.
