Brief description of competition:
Calisthenics is primarily a team sport. Teams train is several disciplines, including Exercises, Marching, Apparatus (Club Swinging and Rod Exercises) and various forms of Dancing (Jazz, Ballet, Ethnic, Spectacular).
Competitions begin with Sub-Juniors and go through to the Senior age groups.
Minis and Tinies participate for fun and fitness, learning the basics applied in the older age groups.
Team competitions are held annually in the NT, usually around late September.
Solo competitions are also available for competitors (pre-requisites apply). These individual disciplines (Graceful Solo, Calisthenic Solo and Calisthenic Duo) are contested annually, usually in May/June.

What do they need to bring to training? A positive and friendly attitude! Apparatus - from Sub-Juniors up, Clubs and/or Rods are required, and can be purchased at class.
Public transport near training: Yes. The bus stop is directly in front of Bakewell Primary School.
Where are competitions held? Darwin Entertainment Centre Mitchell Street Darwin
Competition days and times: As set by the NT Calisthenics Association (NTCA) each year. Individual Championships - May/June Team Championships - September
Cost per season:
Annual registration fee - $60 Term fees differ for each group and range from $65-$80 per term
Costume fees differ for each group (depending on competition requirements) - some are hired and some are to be purchased by the participants. Total costume expense would be no more than $100 Apparatus - Clubs $25/pair; Rods $7 each Approximate total $550/year
Uniform requirements: Girls: black leotard, aesthetic skirt, hair neatly groomed preferably in a bun Boys: black shorts, fitted shirt preferably singlet/tank style, cape Club t-shirts (red/yellow/orange) can be purchased at classes - $20 each

The Individual and Team Championships detailed above are NT Championships.
What do they need to bring to competitions? Details will be provided at classes when Championships are pending.
Public transport near competition: Yes. Competitions are held in Darwin city centre, and buses are available from the Palmerston area.
Would you appreciate parent volunteers? Absolutely! All classes require a Coordinator (maintain rolls, collect fees, distribute information, etc), Costume Coordinator (sizing, sewing etc), people to sew (machine sewing and hand sewing ... we can teach you how!), people to make props, people to make ice cups for classes ... etc etc ... if you're willing to help, we can find a suitable task!

Competition Name: Top End Calisthenics Club Jingili
Competition Description: Calisthenics is a fun, healthy way of fitness for all ages. It is a great program for young ones in assisting the development of their motor skills. Calisthenics involves exercises, dance, ballet, figure marching and working with apparatus (ie clubs and rods)
Season Dates: TECCI operates within normal school terms - 4 terms a year

Training Items Required: All participants need to bring water bottles and aesethic skirts. Teams from sub-junior up also need to bring Clubs and Rods
Training Transport: Sanderson High School is near a regular bus route, but as a safety precaution to all, students must be collected by parents or nominated persons at the completion of classes.
Competition Venue: Competitions are held annually at the Darwin Entertainment Centre.
Competition Days & Times: Competition times are determined by the Northern Territory Calisthenics Association (NTCA) and are held annually. Individual Solo,Graceful and Duo comps generally held May/June and team Competitions September /October annually
Season Cost: Fees vary from Class to Class starting with $70 a term for tinies through to $150 a term for Seniors.There are also additional charges for registration to the NTCA, costume and Club and Rod Hire . Exact prices available on application.
Uniform Requirements: All female participants were a black training leotard. Male participants were black bike pants and black singlet
Uniform Cost: Club Polo Shirts are available at a cost of $29.00. While these are not compulsory, we do ask that all participants in Team Competitions have a Club Shirt.Club water bottles are also available at a cost of $6.
NT Title Comp: NTCA holds NT championships annually; individual championships in May/June and Team Championships in Sep/Oct. NTCA Representative Teams also compete at Australian Championships interstate annually.
Comp Items Required: Individual Coaches and Co-ordinators will advise on what to bring to Competitions.
Comp Transport: Public transport runs from all Darwin Suburbs to the City where competitions are held.
Parent Volunteer: Top end Calistheniccommenced in 1982 and is the NT's oldest Calisthenics club. TECCI welcomes new families and encourages parent involvement with all aspects of the Club
