Basketball

A game involving two teams, a basketball, two hoops and a court. Can be played either in or outdoors. Players and required to use the basketball to shoot through the hoop to score points for their team. The basketball must be bouncing whilst the player is walking or running, if not it is know as “travelling.”

Brief description of competition:
Usually 6 – 8 teams compete in each age group.
U10s play modified rules and do not play finals.
U12s – U18s play each team 2 or 3 times in a season and have a finals competition.

Where is training held?
Normally training’s are held at either the Darwin Basketball Stadium, Abala Road, Marrara or at PCYC, cnr McMillans Road & Vanderlin Drive, Berrimah

What do they need to bring to training? Water bottle and appropriate clothes to train in ie) shorts, t-shirt and runners

Yes, bus stop on McMillans Road (Marrara) and on Vanderlin Drive (Berrimah)

Where are competitions held? Darwin Basketball Stadium, Abala Road, Marrara

U/10s, U/12s & U/14s Saturdays
U/16s Friday night
U/18s Monday night

Cost per season:
$20 club fees (annual fee)
$55 for DBA registration (seasonal)
$5.50 per game ticket

Uniform requirements:
Bottle Green mesh shorts (purchased from Target/Kmart/Big W),
non-marking runners and club singlet to be purchased

Uniform Costs:
Club singlet = $20 (second hand) or $40 (new).
Old singlets can be re-sold back to the club.

NT Championships held August 2005 in Darwin in the following age groups: U/12, U/14, U/16 & U/18

Cost per season: Clinics are run at $7 per lesson or $56 for the whole 8 week program.

What do they need to bring to competitions? To be advised if competition begins - however the usual equipment includes drink bottle, competition attire (to be advised) and sporting equipment suited to each sport.
